All About Water Based Paints
Water based paint products are also called latex paint products that consist of a pigment and binder with water used as a carrier.
Water based paints are best suited for exterior walls and interiors with damp surfaces and spaces sustaining lots of moisture like kitchens, bathrooms, laundry areas, etc. as water based paints are weather resistant and humidity resistant.
How to identify whether a product is water based or not?
To identify whether the paint is water based or not, a small test using methylated spirit can be done-
-
Soak a piece of cloth with methylated spirit and rub it on a small part of the painted wall surface.
-
If the paint colour starts to appear on the cloth, then it should be understood that the paint done on the surface is water based.
